RMS - DSM awarded for great courage and skill in securing and stripping live enemy mines without regard for own safety. Presentation made by King George VI at HMS Vernon 19 Dec 1939.  Helped Ouvry, Lewis and Baldwin render safe first German Type A magnetic mine and helped Glenny and Baldwin render safe second German Type A magnetic mine at Shoeburyness 25 Nov 1939.
